Changes to Parish Pastoral CouncilBased on our pastoral experience these past five years working together as a family of four parishes, we felt it was time to make a change in the structure of our parish pastoral councils. Here is the result of our decision.
We are going to form one parish pastoral council, with representatives from each of the four parishes. Fr. Mike Hammer, who used to work for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in the area of parish councils, will be our facilitator as we create this new structure. He will also reflect on the parish council as a visioning body for the mission of Christ. The individual committees/commissions will continue to operate for each parish, and recruit and carry out the many ministries of our parishes with the help of the parish staff.
We will not meet as councils in June, July and August. There will be three meetings this coming fall with representatives from all four parishes, where Fr. Hammer will give us a tutorial on the formation of one council. We will also be working on developing a structure for our parish committees/commissions for each individual parish. We will meet on September 3 and October 1 for the formation sessions. We will follow the usual format of Eucharistic adoration at 6:15 pm and Benediction at 6:45 pm, with the formation sessions to begin at 7:00 pm. On November 5, we will meet again to choose the representatives for our newly formed parish pastoral council and for all the committees/commissions of our parishes. The newly formed council will take effect in January 2016.
Please keep us and our parish leadership in your prayers.
